How to Apply to Medicaid
Medicaid
What: A medical assistance program that helps low-income residents pay for some or all of their medical costs if they are pregnant, a teenager or child, legally blind, disabled or over the age of 65.
How to Apply: Either apply at your local county community health department building or call (404)-657-2700 to find out if there are other schools, hospitals or community centers in your county where you can apply. Peachcare for Kids
What: Provides health care to Georgia children who don’t qualify for Medicaid and live in households at or below 235% of the federal poverty level (less than $44,868 for a family of three). There is no cost for children under the age of six. It’s also available for Georgia state employees’ children.
How to Apply: Complete an application online at www.peachcare.org or call 1-877-427-3224 to have one mailed to you. In 10 days, you will be notified if your child has been enrolled in Peachcare for Kids, may qualify for Medicaid or is above the income requirement and not eligible.
Amerigroup
What: A government-assisted insurance provider who helps administer Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids dental benefits including two cleanings per year, annual x-rays and extractions for children across Georgia.
How to Apply: Via its website www.myamerigroup.com or call the Georgia enrollment number at 1-888-GA-ENROLL.
Wellcare
What: Experienced provider of government-sponsored healthcare (Medicaid, PeachCare for Kids, Medicare) in Georgia for over 20 years and is part of the Georgia Families health care program.
How to Apply: Via its website georgia.wellcare.com or call 1-866-231-1821
Peachstate
What: A state health plan participating in Georgia Families, which most Medicaid and Peachcare for Kids members qualify for except those who receive Medicare, are disabled, in long-term care or receive SSI.
